Rustic Bison"The Veteran"

7” H  Bronze

Edition 100

$960.00

The bison once blanketed the prairies of the American West.  Nearly hunted to extinction, they were a vital part of the ecosystem. Their herds were accompanied by wolf packs and tribes of Native Americans, which depended upon the bison for their very survival.  This particular piece represents the grizzled veteran of many hardships. Primitive, yet sophisticated, is how I describe the feeling of this sculpture.  Your mind can envision the spirit of the regal bison arising from the flow of the molten bronze.  This particular piece captures both the inherent beauty of the bronze, and the vision of the ancient spirits of the bison standing over the panorama of the Great American West.

"Rustic Elk"

"The Challenge"

12" H  Bronze

Edition 100

$960.00

The elk is one of the most magnificent animals in the American West.  The fall brings on the mating season, also known as the rut.  It is fascinating to watch the males jockeying for dominance; all the while, the females seemingly ignore them.  However it is a time of intense drama and importance to the survival and the successful evolution of the herd.  Primal is how I like to describe the feeling of this sculpture.  Your mind can envision the huge bull elk challenging all comers.  This piece captures both the feeling of power, and the mystery of an important ritual of the elk.

"Rustic Bear sm""Standing His Ground"

6" H  Bronze

Edition 100

$960.00

The grizzly was once the pinnacle predator of the American West.  One even chased Meriwether Lewis into the Missouri River on their journey West.  As man developed more sophisticated weapons, the grizzly became the hunted instead of the hunter, and nearly became extinct.  The advancing hordes of people have pushed him to his limits, but thanks to modern protections, he is “Standing his Ground” in isolated pockets of the American West. Pre-Columbian is how I like to describe the feeling of this sculpture. Art before the arrival of white man allows your mind to envision the spirit of the grizzly arising from the molten bronze.  This particular patina captures both the inherent beauty of the bronze, and the mystery of the ancient spirits of the bear.

"The huge shapely body. . .Was set on legs that were strong as steel rods, and yet slender, clean, and smooth.  They were a beautiful dark brown color, contrasting well with they yellowish of the body.  The neck and throat were garnished with a mane of long hair and the symmetry of the great horns set off by the fine, and delicate lines of the noble head."
